AS did some Catholic priests in Croatia during WWII. Leading their Ustasha thugs in their murderous rampages against a people whose only *crime* was to be non-Catholic.

Do you do Franciscan priests at all?

1/72 Valdemar Miniatures medieval bishops

Medieval Bishops, 13th Century. Will be delivered from June/July 2005.

Suitable to the Tumbling Dice Miniatures Crusades series.

Photographs of preview sprue painted by Thomas Willers, showing the forthcoming medieval bishops set to be released in June/July 2005. Photographs by Rolf Fuhrmann.

Bishops, leading their levy into battle and fighting with sword in hand were a common sight on medieval battlefields.

So this set offers a nice addition for medieval tabletop or diorama.

There is not much information available on the heraldry worn by bishops of the first half of 13th century.

Estonia Winter Crusade - about 1230 A.C.

From left to right: Bishop of Salzburg 1230 / Walter of Geroldseck, bishop of Straßburg 1262 / Hermann of Tartu, bishop of Riga, Estonia, about 1240. Estonia at that period was a state founded by Danish crusaders.

The man on horseback is painted with phantasy heraldry, according to the period.

The bishop in the Valdemar set has a plain lance, as to be seen in picture Nr. 1.

We added a suitable oblong shaped Rofur-Flags banner, typical for the first part of 13th century. Banners showing pictures of various saints like St. George or The Holy Virgin were widespread among troops from early to late medieval period.
