Well, I read a lot of gaming related blogs myself. Some even consolidate other blogs like the Chicago Terrain Factory. I find they vary but I have also found that the quality of some articles equal the better magazines I've read on the hobby since the late 80's.

My blog has moved to longer articles for the most part. I found my readership really went up when I wrote at length about things compared to articles that were quick reactions to things. With blogs it is important to have your own voice so they are definitely not journalistic. However the state of modern journalism is so dismal that I think blogs can often rival them in objectivity. Gaming journalism has always been done for the most part by non-journalists anyway. There isn't a big need for objective reporting in the industry – for example would anyone want to read an objective article about the black world of third party distribution?

People are interested in finding out how to make things, how to paint things, how to game things and how to win. The other subjects such as which company is doing what and so forth run distantly behind them excepts in extreme cases. Games Workshop entering into an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart for worldwide distribution would be huge. XYZ miniature company coming out with a green for a new "skeleton, with helmet and axe" gets a big "meh" from me.

Gaming Bloggers Wanted!

Polymancer Studios announcements now available to all dedicated bloggers in the gaming community!

MONTREAL — People who regularly update their blogs with content about roleplaying games and related hobbies are offered to receive announcements, press releases, calls for writers, and other publicity material from Polymancer Studios. Interested individuals should email contact@polymancerstudios.com with "Blog Publicity Request" in the subject line to get started.

There is a lack of active journalistic coverage of the gaming hobby. The only source for well-written coverage and opinions about roleplaying games, miniatures wargames, sophisticated boardgames, and related hobbies is in blogs that are created by dedicated participants in these hobbies. The publisher of the general gaming magazine Polymancer, the quarterly adventure fiction anthology Polygraff, the fantasy gaming magazine Paladin, and other products recognizes that bloggers are the true independent journalists in this field and will support them in the same way that the company supports any other media.

Contact Polymancer Studios with your blog URL and a brief summary of what you like to write about. Any regularly updated blog, whether it is on a dedicated blogging site (e.g. Blogger, Blogspot, LiveJournal, etc.) or a social networking site (e.g. MySpace) will be considered. It is not necessary for the blog to be 100% about gaming. Podcasts and video blogs are eligible as well.
