First of all, we want to thank you for your custom in 2011 and wish you a happy and healthy 2012.
It has been a good and busy year at Magister Militum. There are a few new releases and things in the pipeline that we ought to tell you about. Here goes!
Inspired by the latest BBC dinosaur series, Planet Dinosaur, we have lots of new 10mm dinosaurs out, and many more dinosaurs were commissioned last week. Our DinoMight rules have also received a long overdue update to include land and air creatures, as well as juveniles.
A few weeks ago, we took delivery of our own blue-and-black hex mats and some fawn/beige colored ones from Noble in the States, to go with the existing green ones. They are colored on one side, printed with two-inch hexes, and measure six feet by 4 feet.
The 10mm Napoleonic Spanish and Portuguese are now released and up on the website. Photographs will follow shortly. We have now got all eleven of the main nations released in the 10mm Napoleonic range, and will be looking at some French cavalry infill (some of the more obscure guard units) and Staff/Brigade/Battalion command, along with personalities.
We're expanding our number of plastic base sizes all the time. The latest are clear bases to use with ships, and our first set of order counters.
We have just received the latest Dystopian Wars releases. They were added to the website last week, and include some wonderful flyers; the British Eagle class is a lovely model. We have a resupply of GHQ which arrived just before Christmas, which means all the latest releases are now in.
We are working on new 15mm Napoleonic and Revolutionary releases. French Guard infantry will be released soon, as will some new Early Prussians, along with more limbers.
For fans of 1:1250 aircraft, we are about to release some of the more interesting U.S. carrier aircraft of the 50s and 60s, which will shortly be added to the web.
We also need to give you advance warning that both JR Miniatures and Miniature World Maker prices will be going up early next year. We will hold prices at their current level until the end of January, to give you a chance to place orders before the price rises come into effect.
When we bought Chariot Miniatures (eight or more years ago), we found among the masters and master molds a most fetching dragon. It has taken a huge amount of work to get a version cast that we could clean up to make a viable master from. We have finally got it casting! The model weighs over 1.2 kg in metal, and takes some pinning and greenstuff to put together. The final result, however, is extremely impressive. We hope to release it officially early in the New Year.
Also in the cards, our new website will be launching in the New Year. We'll try and make the transition as smooth as possible. Many of you know we've been working on this project for over a year, and we're keen to get it launched, as it should prove a more user-friendly experience for you all round. Please bear with us!
