NG International announces Aztlan, the next game in the Nexus Designer Series
An Euro-style game created by Leo Colovini will be the second title of the series that places a spotlight on the game authors
The Italian games publisher NG International announces at the 61th Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair 2010 (February 4-9, Nuremberg, Germany) the second title of its Nexus Designer Series, which features original games from the best international authors: Aztlan, created by the Italian game designer Leo Colovini, author of such famous games as Inkognito, Carolus Magnus, Cartagena and Carcassone: The Discovery.
Aztlan is a new Euro-style game that will charm both experienced players and beginners with its bluffing and challenging mechanics and high quality components. In the mythical Aztlan, ancestral home of the Nahuatl people, rival god-kings engaged in a struggle to rule the mightiest empire and the highest civilization. The game develops during five different epochs, where each player tries to conquer the largest realm, using an intriguing highly interactive mechanic based on majorities and card playing.
"The Nexus Designer Series was conceived to present original games created by renowned game designers from all over the world, with a stronger focus on the designer, including a bio and a presentation of their games," says Salvatore Pierucci, CEO of NG International. In each game of this series the game designer (or designers) will be presented through an article written by another author, including additional information on other excellent games created by the same designers. The first title of the series was Ad Astra, released on September 2009, created by Bruno Faidutti and Serge Laget, two game designers who have an important role in the French and international gaming scenes, with a presentation by Bruno Cathala.

The author
Born in Venice in 1964, Leo Colovini started his adventure in the gaming world at age 12, when he met Alex Randolph playing chess in a club of Venice. Already passionate about games since that time, he was really struck by the "Master" and got acquainted with Randolph, participating in playtests with enthusiasm. In 1986, his first game was published, by Schmidt Spiele: Drachenfels, created with Randolph. Two years later, again together with Randolph, the game Inkognito was published by MB and reached a great success, being nominated for the "Spiel des Jahres" - the world's most influential boardgames award - and winning the Sonderpreis, the special prize of the critics. A few years later, Die Magische Sieben, his first game as solo author was published by Piatnik. In 1993, the Role Playing Game Lex Arcana (Dal Negro) was developed in partnership with Dario De Toffoli, Marco Maggi and Francesco Nepitello. Since that time, he has worked with games full time. In 1994, Die Oster Insel was published by Blatz Spiele and entered in the list of "Spiel des Jahres". In the following years, the work with Dario De Toffoli increased and together with Alex Randolph they founded the company Venice Connection, which published many of his games, such as Carolus Magnus (2000) and Clans (2003), which was one of the three finalists of the "Spiel del Jahres".
