Ninja Magic: Magnetic Adapters Are Back

Back to Hobby News

Thomas Pope has posted at Ad Astra that you are working on 30 degree and 60 degree adaptors to use with SITS. I am very interested in getting a large quantity of these. I have aobut 160 to 180 ships to adapt and might use from 24 to 48 at one time. (Would need connectors for each angle… regular, inverted, 30, 60 and 90 degrees? for each ship that might be in paly on any given game.) Please let me know when they are avialable. Any discount for large orders?

Todd Boyce of Ninja Magic writes:

Initially released last year, these magnetic adapters were unfortunately only briefly available. I wasn't entirely satisfied with them due to some casting and engineering problems, and did not want to continue selling them until these problems were fixed. However, I was not quite prepared for months and months of setbacks, problems, delays, and frustrations, so it has taken far longer than I ever anticipated to bring them back.

With the last of these production issues finally laid to rest, and sporting a tighter grip, too, the magnetic adapters have returned!

Magnetic Adapters Installed

For those who are unfamiliar with this product, these adapters provide a single, simple solution to many of the problems associated with miniatures mounted on flight stands. The two biggest being flight-stand breakage during transport, and the collision of larger miniatures when in close proximity.

Each complete adapter consists of two parts: a straight connector and a short connector. In the primary configuration, the short connecter is attached to the miniature, and the straight connector is attached to the flight stand.

In the altitude spacer configuration, they are glued together, producing a stackable segment useful for moving miniatures out of the way of each other.

The neodymium magnets used are strong, securely gripping even heavy miniatures, and they are simple to install (fitting most standard flight stands and peg holes). Even broken flight stands can be given new life. Pre-game assembly and post-game disassembly is virtually instant, as is inserting altitude spacers while a game is in progress.

Altitude Spacer In Action

Two assortments are now available (or will be soon at Rattlehead Games):

  • 5 complete adapters (5 small connectors and 5 straight connectors) for $6.25 USD
  • 10 Small Connectors for $6.50 USD
