onmilitarymatters Sponsoring Member of TMP of On Military Matters writes:

"Another tie for Father's Day? Why... how... wonderful... dear." Dad says the right thing, of course, but suffers yet another crushing disappointment in mid-June. He was hoping for something in the category of wargaming - troops, rules, books, magazines - something interesting!

Now, a nice tie, or, (gasp!) cologne, is a... a... a... fine... gift, but if you've got enough of them, avoid the despair. Counterattack early with a look through On Military Matters' latest offerings, many of those with a TMP discount!

Napoleonic Uniforms...

Uniforms of the Russian Army 1802-1815 - Vol 1: Infantry

Uniforms of the Russian Army 1802-1815 - Vol 1: Infantry - The Russian infantry was formed from serfs who were conscripted into its ranks, but despite this humble beginning, the Russian infantryman was renown all over Europe for his endurance and courage in battle. This book looks at the appearance of the Russian infantryman during the Napoleonic Wars by using not only well-established sources, like A V Viskovatov's Historical Description of the Clothing and Arms of the Russian Army, but also some of the latest research. 1 vol, 144 pgs, 2010, U.K., PARTIZAN PRESS. $50 USD

WELLINGTON IN DEFENSE 1810: Bussaco and the Lines of Torres Vedras describes the defense of Portugal against Massena, the Light Division's action at the Coa Bridge, the battle of Bussaco and the formidable Lines of Torres Vedras which brought the French invasion to a halt. As with previous books in the series, much of the story is told through extracts from first-hand accounts. The uniforms of the British and French armies are covered in details and in this volume special attention has been paid to the Portuguese Army. Bob Marrion has provided more than 40 new illustrations to bring the uniforms, both regulation and campaign dress, to life. 1 vol, 160 pgs, 2010, U.K., PARTIZAN PRESS, new-dj. $50.00 USD

Push some Panzers...

World at War #13 - GUARDS TANK: The Battle of Prochorovka, July 1943. GT is the first in our new East Front Battles series. That series will present operational simulations of medium-to-large-sized battles fought during World War II on that front. There will be two players in each game, and solitaire play is easily doable. Each hex in GT represents one kilometer (0.62 miles) from side to opposite side. Each game turn represents a day. There's a nine-turn short scenario and a 13-turn long scenario. The rules weigh in at a little under 14,000 words. Two experienced players can complete the short scenario in about four hours. Rules cover such items as: reinforcements, replacements, command-control, zones of control, adjacent and ranged combat, first and second wave combat, suppression, anti-tank fire, airpower, weather, fog of war, supply, untried units, and special tactics. $30.00 USD

Too new for 'history'?
