hello
it seem a book very interesting..because ..for what i perceived the author used some rare to reach first hand accounts…also with the new Askari German Colonials minis and Hereros …(mine are made out of Foundry Boers and various DA tribesmen) it should be possible to play a potentially interesting sideshow from a wargame point of view.
i have the Italian translation of the German Official History of 1912..and every battle down to patrol encounter call for a wargame set up with great flavour (uniforms, craftmanship of the troops, violence of the fight, endurance of both sides)..
my only doubt about the above mentioned scenario book could be the fact that , as stated by the author, the scale reduction results in mini TSATF units of 8 man including an officer..not the best look on a 28mm wargame set up with an Hollywood flavour as postulated by TSATF ..but i'm sure the scale could be changed ..so i'll certainly buy the book..

The Herero War scenario and rules book by Roy Jones and Eric Alvarado is now available for sale! The book can be purchased online at Recreational Conflict here.

The Herero War

The book contains 13 historical scenarios, derived from original German sources, on the Herero War of 1904. This seven-month-long war was fought in the colony of German South-West Africa (present-day Namibia). In addition to the scenarios, the Herero War book has historically-derived, thoroughly-playtested rules that reflect the unique characteristics of the combatants in this conflict. There are rules on Herero concealment, spotting concealed Herero troops, and Herero deception and infiltration tactics. There are also rules that model the survivability and battlefield effects of the German command structure. Historically, outstanding and inspirational Herero and German leaders influenced the melee capabilities of their troops. Thus all the Herero leadership rules and some of the German leadership rules are in the melee chapter. Each rules chapter contains not only the rules but also historical information. Specifically, quotes from the German sources (including first-person accounts from battles) that show the historical basis for the rules, demonstrate the rules in action, and give the reader a "you were there" snapshot view of the fighting.

Recreational Conflict also carries Tiger Miniatures' German and Herero colonial figures.
