John Christopher Franklin of 1815 Limited writes:

1815 Limited is delighted to offer you the chance to win one of five signed copies of the new 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards book by John Franklin and twelve months' membership of the online archive, by registering for a wealth of material on the Waterloo campaign before the 31st October 2010.

3rd Regiment of Foot Guards

The publication of this hardback book marks another chapter in the 1815 Limited study of Waterloo. The first of two volumes on the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards tells the story of the officers and men who served with the 2nd Battalion, but is more than a collection of letters and reports; it is a highly detailed study of the opposing armies and particular units, and the actions in which they were engaged. The book offers the most detailed account of the fighting in and around the Château of Hougoumont on the 18th June ever provided, and is enhanced by 20 full-color maps showing troop movements and dispositions. Notes and appendices provide new information on the combatants and help to dispel the myths which have arisen about the defence of the farm complex.

  • Significant new information on the various armies at Waterloo
  • Previously unpublished material taken from manuscript sources
  • Extensive accounts of the battle at Les Quatre Bras on the 16th
  • Detailed descriptions of the fighting at Hougoumont on the 18th
  • A wealth of notes and appendices covering each of the nations
