Mid-August 2008! Frontline General Beta "Italian Campaign Introduction" will be released via the web for free download (Print & Play). This release will be concurrent with our attendance at Gen Con, Indianapolis, 2008, where 100 boxed versions of the game will be available for sale - fully printed and ready to play!
More Information on the Italian Introduction
The introductory version of Frontline General is considered a 'condensed' intro to the full Italian Campaign - which will be released thereafter. This version will include all of the 'core rules' necessary to play the game at the Operational Scale and at the Tactical Scale using the optional Tactical Scale Combat Rules for decisive miniatures Battles. The game will include several ways to play, including 'Team Play Command' mentioned in the August 2007 Issue of Frontline General News, which allows teams of up to five players per country. Components will include a sampling of U.S. and German Unit Cards, Unit Markers, Counters, Game Currency, Event Cards, Command Cards, Rules on PDF, and an 8-1/2 x 11 portion of the full Italian Campaign Map. The web-release of the game will be delivered via PDF format and will be tailored for home-printing. Detailed tips on how to print all of the components will be provided. For those of you who do not have a capable home printer or do not wish to spend time printing and trimming components, Collins Epic Wargames will offer a printed version for sale via web-order. In addition to supporting us, buying a pre-printed version of the game will save you time and ink, and will include pre-trimmed game components, protective card sleeves, dice, and a box printed in full color to store all of the game's components.
Gen Con Exhibit Information
You will find Collins Epic Wargames at Gen Con this year (tentative booth #1531), which is held August 14-17 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our exhibit at Gen Con will feature a full demonstration of Frontline General, both at the Operational and Tactical Scales using all of the game's components, a terrain-rich battle table, and professionally-painted WWII Peter Pig 15mm miniatures (painted by Miniatures of Chesapeake) as well as other miniatures including Aircraft! Convention-goers will be able to see firsthand how the Operational Level game may be used to drive decisive miniatures battles at the Tactical Level. I invite anyone who is planning to attend Gen Con to come by our exhibit to see what Frontline General is all about! Check out the game in person, test the Combat system, play an Operational Turn or two, and ask any questions you may have- directly to the designer. To celebrate the game's initial release, 100 fully printed, trimmed, and boxed, "ready to play" versions of the Frontline General Italian Campaign Introduction will be available for purchase at Gen Con, concurrent with the wide release of the downloadable version. This is our first major convention and promotion of Frontline General, and we are looking forward to the experience and to your support of our first product.
