We're going to get a tutotial up on the website soon, but this should cover the basics.

You can use spraypaint, an airbrush, a marker, or whatever else you want. For spraypaint, you want to use a sprayguard on the outer rim of the template. If you are using the stencil on a mat, you need to make sure that the mat is flat and not pulled tight -or- bunched up. Start in one corner of the surface and move toward the other corner like you we're laying tile… aligning the stencil carefully at each step of the way. It can be a little tedious, because you have to wait for things to dry, but if you spray lightly enough it doesn't take long. After each spray, you should wipe off your template with a rag while the paint is still wet on it.
