Dave A of Great War Miniatures writes:

Great War Miniatures are pleased to announce the latest releases in their Crimean War range.

Thin Red Line

Inspired by Robert Gibb's famous painting The Thin Red Line, these miniatures depict the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders at the Battle of Balaclava.

At a crucial point in the battle, a large force of Russian cavalry advanced upon the British supply base at Balaclava. Opposing their advance, six companies of the Sutherland Highlanders led by Sir Colin Campbell. Remaining in line rather than forming square, Campbell's men delivered two volleys which stopped the Russians in their tracks, the Times reporter William Russell immortalized them as 'a thin red streak tipped with steel'.
