Warrior Heroes

What is Warrior Heroes A&A?

Another fantasy role-playing game. No. Oh, OK, a man-to-man skirmish wargame then. Well, not exactly.

Warrior Heroes is a hybrid, not a role-playing game (RPG) or a miniatures wargame, but both. Huh?

In role-playing games, players take on the personae of a variety of characters, playing scenarios run by the Game or Dungeon Master. Combat is by a very abstract system and does little less than punctuate the downtime between "talking heads."

In the traditional wargame, players move about the board trying to destroy the enemy while achieving their objective… which is usually destroying the enemy. Combat is what it's all about, and any thought of designing a campaign remains merely a thought as no one really wants to run the thing.

Warrior Heroes is a two-sided coin that combines the personal touch of role-playing with a heavy miniatures slant. The combat system is best described as intense yet simple in mechanics. Combat takes center stage, as when you enter combat there's no guarantee that you'll survive. And that's what makes it intense.

Added to this is a simple-to-use campaign and battle generator system that gives you the who, what, and why of your adventures. Within minutes, the mechanics will generate a complete adventure down to the motivation and actions of the enemy forces. And all without a Games Master, because in Warrior Heroes everyone plays, not just watches.

It also works on two levels. The first side of the coin is the personal level where each player creates and controls a character. He then recruits a group and leads them on adventures, gaining experience and abilities as he advances in reputation.

But the other side of the coin allows for fighting battles with large armies. Using the Big Battle rules, you can easily push large numbers of figures about the board in a reasonable time and to a conclusion. Then tie in the results to your personal characters.

In short, Warrior Heroes can be anything you want it to be, from a role-playing game to a big battle game and anything in between.

Warrior Heroes - Armies and Adventures is the first step. We give you the basics and recipe for hours of fun. The next book, Warrior Heroes - Adventurers Handbook, will expand the RPG side of the coin. Warrior Heroes - Campaigns will be the third book that covers the big battle side in greater detail.
