At the time of the S&S sale, I consulted with avidgamer, as he had a number of them already. We discussed in some detail how they compared with Foundry (of which I had a few) and Redoubt (of which I had a few) and Firing Line (of which I had a few).

As the Perry plastics were about to come on the scene, and it looked like they would be size-compatible with S&S, it seemed like a good idea to indulge in the sale. That the OG Second Edition turned out to be a good match was simply fortuitous; I didn't have any advance knowledge of them.

Sometimes when there are good deals in the US, the International Lead Smuggling Cartel can obtain them for friends in the EU, and vice versa. I can think of one poster on this thread who considered the option to have me buy some S&S figures for him, but in the end did not. (He may be kicking himself!)

Same for the Old Glory Army. Someone across the water with an OGA member buddy in the US could take advantage of it, but these days, postage is eating up a chunk of the savings. But it's still possible.

Everyone has their own individual standards when determining value for money, and quality matched against price. I'm certainly not going to do more than poke a *little* fun at someone who gets as big a kick out of saving a bunch on the Perry plastics as I did with the S&S metals.

And I''ve seen what avidgamer has done with his plastics and (gasp!) Army Painter. Sure, I'll poke fun at that, too, but he's turned out some darned decent figures with it. In the end, he may not be thrilled with them, but perfection is in the eye of the beholder.
