size: the introduction says
"Nevertheless the command and control mechanisms are designed to represent personal leadership in fairly small or traditionally organised forces, rather than the sophisticated staff structures needed to handle brigades, divisions and corps. It is feasible to extend our scope to cover an engagement like Isandhlwana, where the regulars comprised approximately a battalion, but Adowa or Omdurman might still be considered somewhat beyond it."

The army lists in the book are excellent for expeditions to fight natives -- anti-slave operations, big inter-tribal battles.

Great that Chris and NorthStar are publishing extra army lists. There are so many, I had no idea there were so many armies in Africa :)

Note that while the rules cover and the figs with the note are single based, the game uses stands of figures. Not really so good for Naked Prey with 1 runner and 5-6 chasers. Maybe a "Song of Something in Africa" would work.

We have now available six free army lists for the new Chris Peers rules for Africa, Death in the Dark Continent.

Death in the Dark Continent

They are listed to download on the home page and the Ruga-Ruga Publications section of the website.

Chris is still working on more, and we'll make them available as they arrive.

We have also a starter deal featuring the rules and the plastic Colonial figures from Wargames Factory on the website.

Orders for the book alone are post-free worldwide for the next two weeks only.

If all goes to plan, I will be at Partisan in Newark, England, on the 6th of September with a Death in the Dark Continent game - you are welcome to join in. (If all doesn't go to plan, I'll still be there but not with Africans.) Dave Thomas will be stocking the rules on the day.
