Here are the relevant credits from Mr. Megehee's Introduction:

"I must acknowledge timely direction, correction, and assistance from Mr. Daniel Schorr, in my opinion the foremost expert on military practices of Europe in the latter 17th Century. His critiques were indispensable in the preparation of this work.

I am grateful to Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Heiner Bröckermann, German Army Non-Commissioned Officers School, Münster, Germany, for answering many tough questions regarding aspects of the Army of Brandenburg-Prussia. He reviewed my manuscript and gave excellent advice in shaping the major emphases involved.

Likewise, my thanks are due to Dr. Thomas Weissbrich of the German History Museum, Berlin, for his excellent assistance in identifying and interpreting the military material culture pertinent to this topic, particularly within his institution.

I wish to thank Dr. Boyd Dastrup, Command Historian of the Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Field Artillery School, for also reading my manuscript and making many helpful suggestions.

Also my thanks to Ms. Shelia Duckworth, Librarian of the Morris Swett Technical Library, Fort Sill, for her encouragement and assistance in accessing pertinent
references (including interlibrary loans) so necessary to the research involved in producing this work.

Acknowledgment for assistance is due to Mr. Thomas Roth, Senior Curator of the Armee Museum, Stockholm (Sweden), as well as to Ms. Anna Svenningsson of the Swedish Military Archives, in helping to answer questions pertaining to operations and personalities of the Scanian War."

I hope this satisfies your concerns.

Eagles Ascending

There is so much to say about this brand-new Outline Military History of The Rise of Brandenburg-Prussia, 1600-1700 that I can only encourage readers of this post to visit this webpage to read all about it.

I can say that if you have any interest in Pike and Shot era warfare, and can be reminded that the 17th Century was about far more than the Thirty Years and English Civil Wars, this is the volume for you!

Lavishly illustrated with weapons and uniforms, maps, historical OBs, and so much more, this original work belongs on the shelf of any military history buff, especially if the period of early Baroque Warfare holds any interest.

Map of Assault of Rathenau, 1675

Dispositions, Battle of Warsaw, 2nd Day, 1656

Not least, the book contains 26 full-page color uniform plates by professional military history artist Alan H. Archambault, all specifically commissioned for this work. No other source has this amount of information on the dress of the Brandenburg-Prussian Army in its formative first century.

Grenadier-Derfflinger Infantry Regiment-1679

And the naval wargamers of the same century are provided with a short history of the Brandenburg-Prussian Navy, its ships, actions and heroes as well. Large, full-page plans of six famous warships are included – just the ticket for anyone looking to model key vessels.

Figure sculptors and miniatures painters alike now have a resource like no other to bring this period alive for wargames – land and sea – or any other purpose.

Eagles Ascending: Softbound 8.5 x 11", 154 pages, with contemporary and new color maps, OBs of specific battles, mini-bios of key personalities, footnotes, bibliography, and fully indexed, $40.00 USD.
