Dark Age Saxons Available from Renegade

Hi there,

I have just received my Renegade Saxons – really nice figures.

Size wise they are on the big side: IMHO they match up well with Foundry (new) Vikings and BTD (new) Saxons – are bulkier than GB (new) Saxons – are taller than Crusader Saxons – are taller and bulkier than Artisan Vikings.

Despite the long hair they still feel Saxonish to me – not sure why – perhaps a combination of droopy moustaches, scalloped mail, rumpled sleeves???

In the flesh the dragon on a stick standard works for me – it is not too far from the nice converted GB draco in the Hastings pictures in the WAB Shieldwall supplement. If that's not your bag the command pack I received came with two smaller gargoyle-like stickless dragons. These latter have an attachment hollow dead centre, but perhaps they might look better attached via chin and paws similar to the dragon on the Bayeux tapestry.

Will have to wait and see how they look and match up when painted.
