It's always a pleasure to release new miniatures by Mike Broadbent, particularly when they are some of the most ruthless, redoubtable soldiers in all history - 11th century European knights!
Called "milites," these were the hard-charging Normans who conquered pretty much everyone, the vicious Anjevins who cruelly warred with their neighbors without end, the Germans who carved ever deeper into Eastern Europe, the Crusaders who first forged an empire in the heart of the Holy Land.
Everyone was terrified of their charge, and with good reason! So that's how we portray them. They used their spears in a variety of ways, thrust overhead, thrown, and couched, and we offer a pose for each of these, with one additional pose wielding the famed Frankish sword as well.
This initial release is the heart and soul of these armies, but more models will be coming in due course - generals, foot, even Saracen troops to fill out the Normans' Sicilian forces.
The models are also available in two larger sets with progressively larger discounts. For now they are located in the Nikeforian Byzantine range, but will soon find their own home once more packs come out. Shields and spears are supplied, and are separately cast.
