Well must admit I wasn't very impressed by this one. I even had vouchers to pay for it but put it back on the shelf. Nothing new in it and seemed rather too focused on the use of Panzer I's and captured Republican tanks. The Republic's tank use is given less rather less coverage than I expected.

Of course if I had bought it and read it, rather than a brief flick through I may have come to different conclusions. If you have the Albert or Mazzarassa books than I doubt that this will e a must but. On the other hand if you have nothing else it will likely be a decent purchase- but I expected it to be better.

Osprey Publishing announces the release of:

Spanish Civil War Tanks

Spanish Civil War Tanks

The Proving Ground for Blitzkrieg

New Vanguard 170

Book £9.99 GBP
Author: Steven J Zaloga
Illustrator: Tony Bryan

The tanks used during the Spanish Civil War are not often examined in any great detail, and are often labeled as little more than test vehicles in a convenient proving ground before World War II. But, with groundbreaking research, armor expert Steven J Zaloga has taken a fresh look at the tanks deployed in Spain, examining how future tanks and armored tactics were shaped and honed by the crews' experiences, and how Germany was able to benefit from these lessons while their Soviet opponents were not. Based on recently uncovered records of Soviet tankers in Spain and rare archival accounts, this book describes the various tanks deployed in Spain, including the PzKpfw I and the T-26.
