New Book: Netherlands Contingent at Waterloo

John Franklin writes:

I am delighted to say that despite several comments about the relevance of a title on the Netherlands troops at Waterloo, the vast majority of people who have taken the time to visit the 1815 website and look at some of the additional information available have viewed the release of material on the Dutch and Belgian troops in a very positive light. The book will be available from the 18th March and will be followed by a volume on the Hanoverian troops. The release of books on the Brunswick and Nassau troops, as well as the British, French and Prussians is a vital part of this series, and I am happy to provide any additional information or to answer any questions people might have on these or any other Waterloo related subjects. A comprehensive new study for all Waterloo enthusiasts

Waterloo: Netherlands Correspondence

To coincide with the publication of the first book in this exciting new series on Waterloo, 1815 Limited is delighted to offer you the benefits of a special introductory offer. Until the 31st March 2010 you are able to purchase a copy of the new book on the Netherlands contingent and twelve months membership to the online archive for only £50.00 GBP.

Providing members with outstanding value

The new book on the Netherlands contingent contains a wealth of previously unpublished letters and reports which have been translated from the handwritten manuscripts. The information contained therein provides an insight into the part played by the troops during the campaign. The material highlights the difficulties encountered with the Duke of Wellington, and sheds new light on a number of the critical events, including the defeat of the Garde Impériale at the climax of the battle of Waterloo. The book is an essential addition to every Napoleonic collection.

Dedicated to primary research on the Waterloo campaign

Colour illustrations by Gerry Embleton

1815 Limited has been fortunate to call upon Gerry Embleton to illustrate the book on the Netherlands contingent. With the assistance of the new information contained within the letters and reports, and considerable research into the uniforms, weapons and equipment, the book is enlivened with ten pages of colour plates depicting the most important scenes from the contemporary correspondence. The nature of the combat and the role of the Netherlands troops are immediately obvious and enhanced by the addition of full colour maps.

A professional source for reference material on Waterloo

Unpublished documents available online

The unpublished items from the Netherlands contingent form a single part of the study being undertaken by 1815 Limited, and to obtain a full and balanced view of the events material from each of the participants has been collected. The online archive provides instant access to this collection of material, which has been obtained from all the major historical centers in Europe. We conservatively estimate that by the end of 2010 the archive will contain documents with a value in excess of £300.00 GBP. Therefore, the special introductory offer provides you with outstanding value.
