Well I am glad that the Little Shop of Magic was able to fill my Pre-Order. I ordered 1 of each from the first wave (figure packs are 30 USD guys). Also from the second wave I ordered the main rules and the Technicals. I will probablly pick up a Command Squad for each faction, and some of the other USMC figures.

If you do not like this figure range… just buy the rulebook. Use 1/32nd toys, or whatever. No harm, no foul. A large portion of us are grumpy, picky, and pinching pennys anyway, lets be realistic about it. I would have liked 10 Arabs in a box, like the Chinese got, if possible. Otherwise I had no complaints there.

If this line brings in a bunch of kids to Historical wargaming – it worked wonders for me. If my friends play with a mixture of figures sold by my store, and the owner makes money – works for me. If kids see them playing, and buy more pre-paints to join in for instant action – works for me. So my store remains open, kids have alternatives to Collectable games, hurm…

Actually the figures and tanks are not bad. They are like what Games Workshop did with their Lord of the Rings line. Made is 26/27 mm instead of 28 mm like their Warhammer Fantasy line.

Would I have liked bigger tanks? Sure!!!

I mean who wouldn't? Most Toys that wargamers pickup in stores are about the same size as the hulking Games Workshop Tanks. They are rarely 1/48 scale like what Mongoose produced. So it is really about visualization.

I have a Galoob Tiger I from the late 90's after they did the Starship Troopers line. It is about 1/48. I also have a Tiger I that 21st Century Toys did about 2 years ago… it was 1/32nd. Corgi, Galood, 21st Century, New Mellinium and Masgari are usually not to a consistant scale even in the same wave. I guess that is what we get for "cheating" and buying vehicles from Wal-Mart :> Oversized Hum Vee's. Only my M-113's turned out to be true 1/48.

If you are like me and have been gaming a while… go break out your Top Secret & Twilight 2000 figures! You will discover they are proportional to the BF:Evo Figures. All except in height… these are the first Miniatures to not be vertically challenged for their scale. My Foundry figures are about the same height, but stockier. So this means for people with Stargrunt and Battletech 25 mm figures they are not so short anymore.

So what do you do? For the longest time the most popular range of British Colonials was Ral Partha. It is now dwarfed by Old Glory, Foundry and Pulp Miniatures. Conversely… Redoubt makes even those look small. Does that stock Colonial Wargamers from using their old miniatures?

I still use all of them (except the Redoubt). I plan to do the same here.

Hopefully the Light Mobile Infantry (LAMI) will be redone to be smaller than the Power Armor Mobile Infantry (PAMI). I do not mind the standard plastic PAMI being larger than the unarmored figures. Either way, I plan to use my existing Starship Troopers figures still – and they plan to continue to make the "kits" even after the Pre-paints come out. I was looking for a late April release, but it understandablly got pushed back to late August. Probablly best for line development with Battlefield: Evolution anyhow.
