I think I did Aeon… But I can not see why you think I've crooked facts and have an axe to grind (as if I cared about WW personally), for if "I'm the metaplot" then surely I just needed the background in the basic rulebook to develop whatever storyline I wanted to tell to my players. The extras just added to the setting and enhanced MY stories.

Now, to explain my point a bit further: I bought the game in its LIMITED EDITION before it was even printed (talk about supporting) because I know a guy who works/worked intermitently for WW, and he was pretty much excited about the whole thing and the "Anime-style RPG" angle. This selling point kind of always sounded silly to me and I told him so, but beared with him and waited for my book to arrive. Whatever the case, I suppose you get it clearly that I know what the hell I'm talking about when I say what Exalted was supposed to be in the first place, and with the basic idea being that it wasn't going to have "even more powerful creatures" in the newer books… The Exalted were "it", everything and everyone else was downhill after them.

It was not so. First "promise" broken, and we all know that doing it the first time is the hardest.

The plot was simple: "You are one of the gifted, of the Champions of the Sun. Your place was usurped, your brethren slain… They are hunting you. Fight and regain your birthright or die trying."

Harmonious Jade et all, were just system dressing… When they became "the plot-leading presence", the "you are the metaplot" angle was lost and it all came down to BSing the readers who wanted a change of pace from the typical WW fare and tactics—and I'm not talking about the Angsty WoD stuff, but the way the games were actually developed.

But anyway and as I said I can not care share your views that my facts are not straight, and finally I'd advise you it be wiser to spare the pompous Nipponism when there are English words to refer to ARTISTS/DRAUGHTSMAN (manga-ka) and FANZINES (doujinshi)… It just makes you look pedantic and self-righteous and this is .

Now, if you want a really "Eastern experience" I'd recommend you try out Sengoku which takes on the whole Chanbara experience (Swordsmen Action films, as I don't want stick to pompous Nipponisms =D) with true goshindo (way of self-preservation) antics, faithful jidai-geki (period film/historical&semi-historical movie, with "geki" meaning "theatre") pacing and resources and, finally, all the loony anime-style theatrics you could wield a bamboo sword at.

Anyway, peace, mate and never lower anything. Always aim for perfection as it it the only was to achieve Satori.
