Skysend City Sci-Fi Barracks
Watermarked PDF – $7.50 USD (sale price)
Skysend City, the only town on the dusty, dried-up desert world of Lee's End, is by no means entirely unique among the hundreds of small mostly forgotten little communities scattered out over the frontiers of known space. But it is the last such place that can be reached by any form of public transportation. You may start from Earth Prime in a first-class starliner, but six weeks out you find yourself on a small McBrayne's transport, little bigger than a shuttle, sharing your first class seat with a crate of chickens and trying to keep the goats from eating your shoes.

So why, you ask, would anyone venture to visit such a forsaken, out of the way, almost ghost town at the end of the known universe? Red Star Mines has a regional office in Skysend City and operates a Class C Sandminer that plies the bottom of a dried up ocean 150 km east of town. However, most of the visitors come to see the ruins and archeological digs. There were once at least seven distinct civilizations here, which over millennias of time blossomed and faded, leaving some very unique remains behind them.

Skysend City, at this time, is mostly a quiet, somewhat laid-back kind of place, where almost anything can and does happen from time to time. But in the early days, at the end of the Second Starwar, it was a wild and woolly place. Every ship that unloaded at the port was full of hard men and harder women. People came from all over, hoping for a new start working in the digs or just plain old tomb robbing. Ex-soldiers, gunfighters, gamblers and prostitutes rubbed shoulders with the refugees displaced during the wars.

Such a situation could not remain peaceful for long, and when the casualty rate exceeded 30 people one week, the citizens, who formerly had never bothered to set up a government, now sent a petition to the Federation Colonial Authority pleading for help. Unfortunately, the Federation had its hands full with other problems and was unable to respond for the better part of an earth year. The lawlessness in Skysend City was dealt with by vigilantes. By the time the Federation government had authorized a small garrison of Starguard in Skysend City, there was nothing left for them to do but chase off the occasional Ralnai or Eli raider.

Nevertheless, the old Barracks building is one of Skysend City's landmarks and now serves as the police headquarters.

Reviresco's kit of the old barracks building is a six-in-one kit, with active layered PDFs that give you the choice of six different camouflage schemes and six national markings (as well as layers of grunge, dust and battle damage). The completed kit measures 8 x 5.25 x 5.75 inches, and is designed to be built over foamcore backing.
