Maybe this would help -- I've not purchased 5150 as I could never make sense of Chain Reaction, Legends of Araby, etc.. Stingray, I would suggest getting ahold of one of the CURRENT demo rule sets (MG-42 for example) and working through that. There have been a few generations of THW rules, and the newer batch are definitely easier to grasp. I too was a bit confounded at first, and spent weeks poring over the rules. I finally slapped down a few figures and worked through them, and it all clicked. I used some of the (free) online resources like the flowcharts to come up to speed. The rules are very different from most others I've tried, and I found I had to "unlearn" a few things, and not read too much into the THW products. The epiphany came for me when I realized that if I should be able to do something in real life, I can probably do it in THW games. Conversely, there aren't detailed listings of what you can NOT do. Give 'em a try again if you haven't yet. They're a great change of pace, and I'm constantly reading books or watching movies with scenes that I want to try out using THW products. - Bob |
