Warrior Frogs Mounted on Toads!? It must be a new release from Eureka Miniatures!

At a signal from the Frog King, a lone Frog cannon shot rings out across the pond breaking the stillness, and in response a thousand enthusiastic war-croaks arise from the bulrushes. The Warrior Frogs are abroad once again, and in the van of the great green host ride the Frog Knights and their mounted retinues - all astride their warty steeds.
With Christmas approaching, here is the gift for the gamer who thinks they have everything. Sculptor Kosta Heristanidis is of course to blame for all this!
Our range of Warrior Frogs appears to have gained something of a cult status amongst miniatures collectors with an eye for the off-beat and the eye-catching. They were originally inspired by the anthropomorphic battle scenes of 19th Century Japanese artist, Kawanabe Kyosai, whose pictures depicted frogs and turtles engaged in traditional style samurai combat. These paintings included frog cavalry mounted on toads and sculptor Kosta Heristanidis thought these would be an ideal addition to the range, suitably embellished with a few ideas of his own - such as samurai back-banners, turtle shell body armour, and shields.
All the individual Frog cavalry miniatures are supplied with a toad mount, randomly selected from any one of six different variants - which include toads standing, toads advancing, or toads filling out their air sacks for a mighty war-croak, or even variants making the much feared sticky toad-tongue attack! The riders are available as 'knights'/heavy cavalry in body armour, with shields and back-banners, or as 'standard cavalry'. Both the principal cavalry codes 100FRG22 and 23 come with a selection of different weapon arms (lance, pistol or war mallet) which can be attached to the rider's body at different angles for variety. Other codes allow you to order Frog Cavalry specifically armed with swords or muskets (Frog Dragoons perhaps?!). You can also take advantage of the Frog Cavalry Squadron set (100FRG26) which (at a much reduced cost from acquiring the miniatures individually) will provide you with six mounted frogs, including all six toad variants. The Warrior Frog riders and their equipment are cast in white metal, while the toad bodies are cast in resin plastic (some assembly is required).
Now that we have Warrior Frog foot warriors and Warrior Frog cavalry, it seems only right and proper to offer some artillery as well, so Kosta has designed a Warrior Frog artillery piece and crew. The Warrior Frogs take great pride in their expensive ordnance, and their guns are often very ornate in appearance. This example sports a Frilled Neck Lizard barrel, and is accompanied by six proud and highly trained artillerists.
We think one of the great attractions of this range is the endless opportunities it presents for figure painters to run riot with aquatic colour schemes. Both riders and toad mounts can be decorated in a dazzling array of colour schemes - taken straight out of the pages of National Geographic or any number of David Attenborough natural history documentaries. We hope some of the pictures might inspire you.
