Yes, Al, I meant variety of POSES, not variety of costume. Everything you say sounds good.

Rudi, thanks, maybe someday I'll subscribe to MagWeb.

Askari Minis of Askari Miniatures writes:

Askari Miniatures is pleased to announce the arrival of Cossacks to fill out the mounted arm of our 28mm Russian Colonial troops.

Don Cossack Cavalry Command

There are Don Cossack-style Cossacks in cap and short tunic, as well as Circassian Cossack-style cossacks with fur cap and long caftan with the characteristic cartridge pouches sewn on.

With the cap-and tunic dress, you can portray the Don, Ural, Siberian, and Orenburg Cossack regiments during the conquest of Turkestan in the 1870s and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877. Cossack units wearing this style of dress can also be seen in World War I, the Revolution and Civil War, and even into World War II.

Circassian Cossacks

The Circassian and Astrakhan Cossack regiments wore their style of dress during the conquest of Turkestan and the Russo-Turkish War. As the fur cap and coat became more popular, Guard units, Siberian Cossacks and others wore it in the Russo-Japanese War and later as well.

These versatile and character-filled figures are mounted on newly-sculpted Cossack horses.

In addition to the Cossacks, we've released the first of our Turcomen warriors mounted on their sturdy Central Asian Akhal-Tekke horses.
