Hi all.

As said the flak vest were rarely seen up country due to the heat however Marines being sent into Hue were issued them. It is mentioned in may prime sources as they were not told where they were going in the early stages but were unusually issued the flak vest. This created some intrigue. Its also seen in the pictures of the battle.

Gas masked were also carried by many which became useful as front line officers began to use tear gas in the battle.

TOE What we put in packs is always an issue. We have tried various recipes and there is never a perfect fix simply a best option. For example Ultra modern packs can be a problem as nations such as the US and UK use four man fireteams which works. Others do not. For example the French and Germans use three and the Chinese PLA, well that's a whole different story.

For WW2 and Nam we opted, following customer comments, to go for weapon based packs. This way the customer can choose what they want. Sadly many rules do not follow actual TOE preferring to go for what is gameable under their rules mechanisms. That's not my personal preference as I like real life and history rather than 'fantasy' but each to his own.

These are the first releases of what will be a developing range covering the entire conflict so what may appear a too dominant balance of some weapons will balance out over the coming weeks. We have started with Hue 68 and the USMC and there will be lots more to come in the near future and after. Including NVA, Vietcong, Civilians, ARVN, allies.

Cheers, Paul

Hi!

We are just in the process of releasing a new range of Vietnam figures.

The initial packs represent U.S.M.C. in the Battle for Hue 1968 and the Tet Offensive in general.

Sculpted by Paul Hicks, we hope that you agree these figures really capture the grit, determination and fear of the Marines involved in the largest battle of the war.

These are on pre-sale in our shop, which is not something that we have ever done before. The reason this time is the huge demand that we have had to do this range, plus the upcoming show at Salute, London. We are on stand TE05.

If you wish to pre-order for Salute, just email us your shopping list and we will get the packs ready for your collection: mail@empressminiatures.com.
