Chasseurs Alpins from Askari Miniatures

Gents,

the Blue Devils are more than just interesting figures, but some of France's toughest, nastiest fighters from both World Wars and beyond. They were an elite force of mountain warfare troops who had to be adept at climbing AND fighting in Alpine conditions, as they were primarily meant for service in the Alps proper.

During WW1 the Blue Devils earned their moniker from the Germans who found them extremely tough and stubborn opponents. During WW2 the Chasseurs Alpin fought with considerable distinction in Norway, in the Alps against the Italians (whom they repeatedly embarrassed!), and as part of the maquis(!).

Capt. Miller – if your gramps was a Chasseur Alpin, you should not IMHO be merely *tempted!* evil grin

Well done, Askari Ali! evil grin

Askari Minis of Askari Miniatures writes:

Askari Miniatures has released three new sets of the famous Blue Devils. The Chasseurs Alpins were perfect for the terrain of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, and two battalions were sent there in 1912 along with their mountain artillery battery. Now you, too, can add them to your French forces.

FR-18 are the Chasseurs Alpins infantry with command, FR-18c the Hotchkiss crew, and FR-18d an artillery crew for the DeBange Mountain Artillery piece.

You can use these figures wherever the Chasseurs Alpins fought, from the late 19th century through the early years of World War I.
