Greg DiFranco of Long Island Miniature Collectors Society writes:

The Long Island Miniature Collectors Society will hold its annual exhibition and convention on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Freeport Recreation Center, 130 East Merrick Road, Freeport, NY, 11520.

Long Island Miniature Model Show

The show features a display and competition of well over 500 historical and fantasy miniatures and models, including some of the best work in the Eastern U.S., and covers a wide array of models including plastics, sci-fi, horror and toy soldiers.

The competition includes categories for all skill levels, from Master Modelers to General to Novice categories, as well as a Juniors category.

The Long Island show prides itself in catering to the general modelers and a very friendly atmosphere can be enjoyed by all levels of skill. Many master modelers from the U.S. and Europe also attend and are always willing to share their skills and knowledge at this show. This year, Mike Blank from Sweden will present Composing vignettes and dioramas. How to tell a story, create a mood and drama. How to compose using colors, levels and directions.

In addition to the Historical and Fantasy Miniature Figure and Diorama categories, there are categories for armor, aircraft, ships and sci-fi models.

It includes one of the largest vendor areas in the Northeast for a figure model show, providing all sorts of models, supplies, toy and collectible soldiers, plastic kits and flats. Also of note is a figure auction with military miniatures from World Master figure painters.
