DBA Winners at Enfilade Announced

Back to Hobby News

KSmyth writes:

All of the DBX events at Enfilade seemed to be great fun. I only managed to get into the DBA at the Movies tourney, and had a great time. However, I was back and forth most of the convention to check out the DBA games and the Umberside adaptation for Horse and Musket that was being played. It all looked great.

Paul has taken DBA to an art form, both in terms of the imagination and quality of his terrain pieces and army—his Alexandria Light House won a prize at the Enfilade painting competition. He also brings a contagious sense of enthusiasm for DBA, and insists on a high fun quotient for all the players. If you're a DBA player and want to have a good time, come out to the Northwest.

Paul A. Hannah of NHMGS announces:

Here are the names of those who won trophies and prizes in the three DBA Ancients tournaments that I ran at Enfilade this year.

"DBA at the Movies"

A matched-pairs tourney based on the movies.

1st Place:
Kevin Smyth, Puyallup, in a shootout (cheesy tie-breaker)
Sportsmanship:
Richard Shagrin, Seattle

"Hot Wheels"

Don Ray of Calgary, Alberta smiles for the camera while playing 15mm Sumerians in the 'Hot Wheels' DBA Ancients tourney. Two of the four DBA tables can be seen, along with the space along the wall for us neatly to store all our DBA armies thru convention. We we dubbed it 'DBA Street'

A tourney for Chariot-era armies.

1st Place:
Mike Gunn, Roseburg, OR (Neo-Assyrians)
2nd Place:
Don Ray, Calgary, AB (Sumerians)
Sportsmanship:
Bruce McFarlane, Edmonton, AB (Mitanni)

"The Rumble in the Jungle"

A tourney for elephant armies of SE Asia.

1st Place:
Chris Rivers, Tacoma (Khmer)
Sportsmanship:
Scott __?__, Olympia (Burmese)

All but one of our five DBA tournies were full-up thru the weekend, and we tallied some 94 DBA games played. DBA at Enfilade, good as it was this year, wasn't quite the same without Terry Griner of Spokane, who had to attend his son's graduation.

Many thanks, of course, to David Sullivan, Allan Dyer, Bryan Shien, who saw to our every need and ran such a fine convention, carrying on the fine tradition of Messrs. Schueler and Smyth. Well done, guys.
