OPERATION PERCH
June 11th, 1944
Southeast of Caen, France
D-Day was six days old, and the strategic city of Caen was still in German hands. The British High Command therefore looked for new ways to take the city, and decided to modify their approach.
Montgomery ordered both I Corp and XXX Corp of his 21st Army Group to make a pincer movement in hopes of taking the elusive city. XXX Corps, making up the western arm of the pincer, deployed a number of combined armor-infantry groups and pushed aggressively south in hopes of taking several important positions in the face of, what was hoped to be, light opposition. Unfortunately, German forces understood the importance of holding these sites, and savage fighting would erupt around the towns of Tilly sur-Seulles, Cristot, and Hill 102 as the Germans used the excellent defensive terrain to their advantage.
We have uploaded this free scenario to our Free Scenarios folder on our PANZERKORPHQ Yahoo! Group for everyone to download for free. Although designed for Panzer Korps divisional WWII rules, it can be used as a campaign or a framework for smaller company- or squad-level games.
