We are pleased to announce the release of the first pre-20th Century vehicle in our Engines of War range.
The vehicle itself is best described by its inventor:
These take the place of the elephants. One may tilt with them. One may hold bellows in them to spread terror among the horses of the enemy, and one may put carabineers in them to break up every company.
The design here, portrayed by Tobi Asche, is widely considered to be the most practical and accurate interpretation of Leonardo's sketches. It was armed with cannon, and powered by a small crew operating a series of cranks and levers inside. One obscure detail in some sketches is a series of viewports and tubes in the upper "turret" of the tank design.
In some sketches, it appears that Leonardo intended that these be either telescopes for viewing the enemy, or firing points for smaller weapons and/or cannon. We have provided extra barrels for the smaller ports so that you may use them as you see fit or leave them as simple, open portals, as they appear in most of the final sketches.
An incredibly useful vehicle in 1:56 scale, with applications from Fantasy to Renaissance armies and beyond. Would even work for Franklinian or Victorian science fiction. Usable with 28 to 32mm miniatures. Priced at $25 USD.
Plus, this month we're offering free shipping. So consider picking up a few goodies!
