And Honey Stuarts. There was even a very small group of Grants but they were useless. We got the 2nd hand gear from England when the Yanks flooded the market with Shermans.

Aussiejed of Eureka Miniatures writes:

Here are some new additions to our 15mm World War Two Italians in the form of Bersaglieri motorcycles and tricycles, and sculptor Mike Broadbent has also created a 15mm scale model of Australia's noble attempt to design and build its own World War Two tank – the Sentinel.

15mm Italian Motorcycles

The motorcycles and tricycles are useful additions to our popular 15mm World War Two Italian range, which should give your Bersaglieri units that all important Italian 'flavour'. Sculptor Mike Broadbent has produced single motorcycle; pillion passenger; and light machinegun variants for the motorcycle, and a light machinegun and "transport body" variant for the tricycle. He's also provided the motorcycles and tricycles on their own, so you can add them to your Bersaglieri figure bases to show the riders fighting dismounted!

15mm Sentinel tank (with Pacific War Aussies for scale)

The Sentinel tank was Australia's little-known attempt to supply its armoured forces with their own home-grown tank. Faced with Japanese invasion, the tank was developed when it was realised the U.K. and U.S.A would struggle to supply Australia with British and American tanks due to commitments elsewhere. The tank was designed and built to prototype within a year (despite a temporary, but unsuccessful diversion to another design) and as such, was a remarkable achievement for a country with a fledging heavy industry base. Some 66 Sentinels were eventually built and various variant designs put forward, but by then the supply situation had changed and American equipment became readily available. The project was cancelled and the tanks used for training purposes, never seeing combat.

The Sentinel tank proposes one of those interesting 'what-if' scenarios for World War Two gamers. It was an interesting and up-to-date design, and it could have performed well in combat conditions – certainly more than a match for any of the Japanese tanks. One prototype was successful fitted with a 17pdr gun, which might have surprised a few German tanks as well! We think a few of you with 15mm Australian forces will be tempted to field a troop or two of home-grown Aussie tanks. We've noticed that the possibility hasn't escaped our New Zealand friends on the excellent Flames of War website either. There you can find an article, Kokoda to Shaggy Ridge by Scott Elaurant, containing Flames of War game stats for the Sentinel tank. (Special thanks to Wayne for allowing us to link to their website.)

We have also taken this opportunity to re-release our range of 15mm Western/Central European buildings, which we'd like to think would grace any miniature battlefield. A combination of terrace cottages and shops, they are designed to mix together to form an interesting and varied streetscape for anytime from the late 18th Century to the present day. Also in the range are a farmhouse and a barn for those slightly more rural battlefield settings. We have even included a set of add-on sheds, out-buildings and dorma windows so you can customise the buildings for greater variety. Although intended to represent a European location, these buildings can easily be re-located to other geographical regions such north eastern America and Colonial Australia.

Here are the catalogue details for the new miniatures – and our Re-Release Special Offer.
