SPQR: Ancients Miniatures Rules – Revised Edition

SPQR: Ancients Miniatures Rules – Revised Edition. SPQR allows you to build a complete warband capable of scouting out enemy armies, clashing across borders, and conducting raids on farms and villages. Units in SPQR are divided into two broad categories: heroes and minions. Units of five or more minions form the bulk of your warband, faceless henchmen who have been sworn into your service. Heroes are powerful individuals that will grow in stature from battle to battle, gaining new talents and becoming true legends on the ancient battlefield. The revised rulebook contains everything you need to create your own hero to lead your warband, and includes 18 unique talent trees to select a style for your chosen warriors. $32.00 USD

OMM Discount 10%: Now $28.80 USD.
Glory 1861: Raising and Leading a Regiment to Glory

Glory 1861: Raising and Leading a Regiment to Glory. Raise an American Civil War infantry regiment and lead your men into battle using fewer than 50 figures. The rules allow you to create an historical regiment with named commanders, company officers, and company names. Train them in the arts of war, and then lead them into the battlefield to seek glory, fame and immortality. This approach melds character creation from roleplaying, seamless game play, and robust and well-tested gaming mechanics. You have dozens of regiment options as you build your force. At each stage, you must decide how to train the men and how to use their officers and company commanders to accomplish their objectives. A random encounter and objectives system gives you hundreds of possible scenario options. You can also play the opening moves at Bull Run in 1861 or the whole Western Virginia mini-campaign. You can use your own regiment or one of the pick-up-and play regiments. Bonus cards to enhance game play are included, along with table set-up maps and ready reference sheets. $34.00 USD

War at Sabre Point: Banastre Tarleton and the British Legion

War at Sabre Point: Banastre Tarleton and the British Legion. The British Legion frequently overwhelmed the Continental forces they fought, becoming the most feared British regiment of the war. Banastre Tarleton and the Americans he led have always been characterized as brutal, immoral villains – most recently in the movie, The Patriot. But this study subverts our pre-conceived notions. The men who filled the legions ranks were not weak-willed collaborators or treacherous renegades, but free men as motivated by conscience as the Patriots they battled. Few were wealthy. None had a vested stake in the British government. Each believed that in defending the crown, they were upholding the rule of law and preserving individual liberty. These men followed Banastre Tarleton clear across America for years, sacrificing their families, homes and lives. Self-interest could not have persuaded them to do this. Patriotism and fidelity did. Uses first-hand accounts such as letters, diaries, and journals to tell the legion's story and the man who led it. $30.00 USD

Noble Volunteers: The British Soldiers Who Fought the American Revolution Describes the training, experiences, and outcomes of British soldiers who fought during the American Revolution. Drawing on thousands of military records and other primary sources in British, American, and Canadian archives, and the writings of dozens of officers and soldiers, shows how a peacetime army responded to the onset of war, how professional soldiers adapted quickly and effectively to become tactically dominant, and what became of the thousands of career soldiers once the war was over. Dispels long-held myths, revealing the remarkable diversity of British soldiers who represented a variety of ages, nationalities, and socio-economic backgrounds, and how many had joined the army as a peacetime career, only to find themselves fighting a war on another continent in often brutal conditions. Against the backdrop of the war, the focus remains on the small picture, illuminating the moments in an individual soldier's life – those hours spent nursing a fever while standing sentry in the bitter cold, or writing a letter to a wife back home. What emerges from these vignettes is the understanding that while these were common soldiers, each soldier was completely unique. $34.00 USD

From the Realm of a Dying Sun: Volume 3 – IV SS-Panzerkorps from Budapest to Vienna, February-May 1945. In the closing months of World War II, with Budapest's fall on 12 February 1945, and the breakout attempt by the IX SS-Gebirgskorps having failed, the only thing the IV SS-Panzerkorps could do was fall back to a more defensible line and fortify the key city of Stuhlweissenburg. To the detriment of the defense of Berlin, SS-Oberstgruppenfuhrer Sepp Dietrich's legendary 6 Panzerarmee was on its way, not to retake Budapest, but to encircle and destroy Tolbukhin's forces and completely reverse the situation in south-eastern Europe in Hitler's favor. This overly ambitious offensive, known as Fruhlingserwachen (Spring Awakening), was soon bogged down in the face of resolute Soviet defenses aided by the springtime thaw. Heralded as Nazi Germany's last great offensive of World War II, it resulted in great losses to Hitler's last armored reserve in exchange for only minor gains. $38.00 USD

OMM Discount 15%: Now $32.30 USD.
