Warlord Games: New Year Update

Regarding the mail on Boudica; most sculptors/companies would have done her as some fantasy half naked top heavy long legged wet dream Celt (you know who you are), so I am not going to complain.

It is so refreshing to have her plausibly and realistically armoured. What warleader Queen – even a token figurehead one – goes into battle without making some attempt to put on proper real armour? Yet sculptors rarely portray her with any.

Finally, a believable Boudica. Thank you.

Also, now that you/Warlord have Bolt Action Miniatures, any chance of a Churchill Tank? Pretty please? :D

Paul Sawyer of Warlord Games writes:

Well, thanks to all of you, last year was a belter for us at Warlord Games, and we're looking forward to an even better 2009!

To kick off the new year, here's an update on what we've got on the way...

Scots bagpipes

With our English Civil War and Thirty Years War ranges gathering pace behind the scenes, we thought we'd show off a few pics of the 3-ups of the Scottish Covenanters plastics. These command figures show just a small number of the options available when making these models - there are loads more! The first shots of the plastic infantry are coming in now, so expect to see some of those just as soon as we've got them ready.

Our acquisition of Bolt Action Miniatures last year has given us a huge range of 28mm WWII miniatures and vehicles to play with (quite literally!). The current ranges do have a gap or two, and we'll be working on filling those as a matter of priority. We've shown off work in progress of more U.S. Airborne as well as British Bicyclists and a lovely-looking Sdkfz 7 halftrack.

We have plenty more irons in the fire for the Bolt Action range, and we'll be showing those off in coming days and weeks.

All of this new stuff doesn't distract us from our original ranges - Imperial Romans and Celts. Our wonderful new Boadicea Triumphant! miniatures are available for pre-order and will be released in around two weeks. We also have metal sprues of helmeted and unhelmeted heads with different patterns of headgear, that will go perfectly with the plastic Romans to add variety and more character to your units. With Ancient Britons, British Cavalry and Dacians also nearly upon us, our Ancient ranges are far from being forgotten!

And it's only the first week in January - it's going to be quite a year!
