The topper does extend your surface area of playing if you have small table such as a dining room table, however, I would not ‘lean' on it.

Also, it does protect the surface beneath from the rigors of miniature combat – a plus for those who only have one table that they can use for gaming and do not want to get in trouble with their spouse.
