Dirk van Gorp of Karwansaray Publishers writes:

Medieval Warfare I.1

We want to make sure that the first issue of Medieval Warfare is up to our usual standards: that means insightful articles and plenty of gorgeous artwork. Because we want to get things just right, we had to move our initial deadline for the first issue up a month. However, now that everything is almost finished, we can finally set the official launch date for our first issue. Medieval Warfare I.1 will be launched in the middle of May 2011. The second issue will follow two months later, in the middle of July.

Shop

Now that we've set a launch date, we would love for you to subscribe to the new magazine. We've just opened a brand-new shop to sell all of the products offered by Karwansaray Publishers, including Medieval Warfare. The shop is now online, giving readers three months to subscribe and ensure they receive the first issue of the magazine. Even better, to celebrate the coming of Medieval Warfare, we're giving a discount of more than 10% to everyone who buys a one or two year subscription before the launch date of our first issue. Be the first to own a subscription to Medieval Warfare, and get a discount as well: subscribe now.

Editorial plan Medieval Warfare I.2

Even though issue I.1 of Medieval Warfare isn't out yet, we're already busy planning the contents of issue I.2. It seems that the news of Medieval Warfare's release has spread fast, since we received even more proposals than for the first issue. This meant that we had to make some very difficult decisions. We're confident though that you'll be getting a great selection of very interesting articles. After careful deliberation, we have chosen the following articles for Medieval Warfare I.2:

Theme: The Power of Wealth - Mercenaries in the Medieval World

Theme - Owen Rees, 'Introduction to the Theme'.
The Source - Murray Dahm, 'The Chronicles of Froissart'.
Theme - Sidney Dean, 'The German Landsknechte'.
Theme - Arnold Blumberg, 'The use of mercenaries by the English Crown, 1066 - 1250'.
Theme - Raffaele d'Amato, 'The Varangian Guard'.
Theme - Vassilis Pergalias, 'The Catalan Company'.

Other Features:

The Weapon - Ross Cowan, 'Distinctive Scottish Longswords of the 14th and 15th centuries'.
The Castle - Gareth Williams, 'The iron ring of Edward Long-Shanks: Castles of North Wales'.
The Battle - Andrei Pogasias, 'The Battle of Varna'.
Weapon Handling - John Clements, 'The absence of documentable evidence for Early Medieval fighting arts'.
