Hey, Fritz! The self-titled "All the King's Men" rules call for individually based figures in a classic-style wargame. They can certainly be based on multiple stands, however. I have done that with other 54mm-focused rule sets. You can see a combination of both on that wargame page linked in the news article.

Movement trays would work fine for the ATKM rules. I confess I'm not a fan of them, though. They always seem visually obtrusive on the table versus the terrain bases of the figures themselves.

All the King's Men Toy Soldiers is proud to announce several new 54mm releases in our AWI line. They include:

Late-war Highlanders

  • Highlanders
  • British Infantry
  • Continental Infantry in cut-down caps
  • Continental Infantry in hunting shirts
  • British Light Infantry
  • British Artillery

All infantry sets include twelve soldiers, an officer, and a standardbearer ($35 USD). Artillery units consist of a gun, 4 gunners, an officer, and an ensign ($25 USD-$30 USD). The light infantry includes six soldiers, an officer, and a musician ($25 USD). All unit sizes are based on our own ruleset.

We have also added a 6-pounder field gun and a naval/fort gun, perfect for 54mm figures. These guns are available separately, or combined with all our artillery units - British, Hessian and Continental.

All pieces are metal and come unpainted, although the guns come with black carriages and brass barrels.

ATKM offers a full line of 54mm AWI figures, accessories and terrain for collecting and wargaming. We have our own fast, easy rules, available free as a download on our site. This is not skirmish gaming, but large battles fought on a reasonably sized table. Just take a look at some of our game pics!
