In the lost city of Azor, danger and death are never far away. Not only for the weak or unwary, but even the strong find that they are sometimes the hunted. Yet, it is not the daily challenge to life and limb that make the blood of the mighty run cold, for while threats are many, they are well known and familiar. Instead, it is tales that are passed down as barely remembered legend, spoken in hushed voices, that make the spirit quail.
Once every generation, a threat returns. Each story is different because there are no witnesses. Those who say they have seen this elusive foe are either lying or have gone mad. But, despite seeming like the fevered dreams of drunkards and madmen, the tales contain similar elements…. The footsteps in the night. The mysterious disappearances. Tuneless chanting that echoes from everywhere and nowhere down deserted streets. But mostly, the one crimson eye, flickering madly in the darkness.
Alex Bates presents The Eye of the Cyclops, his second Kickstarter for Forge of Ice. The Eye of the Cyclops is a complete encounter set, usable for your ongoing roleplaying campaign or as a setting for skirmish miniature wargaming. It includes four 30mm scale miniatures, scenery, and an illustrated game booklet.
Inside the rulebook are 30 system-neutral pages providing details about the Cult of the Eye, the secretive Cyclops-worshiping cult that threatens the lost city of Azor. It describes the cult's motivation, tactics and notable personalities. It is ready to serve as a side quest or as a hook into a longer campaign.
The Full Set Includes:
- 1 "Eye of the Cyclops" 30 page illustrated game booklet.
- 1 Kandar Itaa, high priest of the Cyclops cult
- 2 Cult guards, thugs in the service of the cult. One each of two different sculpts
- 1 Cyclops, a 40mm tall mutant
- 1 Eye of the Cyclops, a huge gem embedded in a cyclops skull, displayed on a plinth
- 1 Shrine of the Cyclops, the centerpiece of the cult's hidden temple
Altogether, the full set gets you one boss (Kandar Itaa), two henchmen, one monster, one treasure item, and one terrain piece, as well as a booklet detailing how to use the cult in your games. Together, they make for a tidy and versatile little encounter, useful in settings from pulpy versions of ancient Greece or Rome to Conan's Hyboria. The 'official' setting is the lost city of Azor, which Alex hopes to expand upon with more booklets and a full sourcebook someday.
Once again, Alex's Kickstarter has fully funded within 48 hours. The miniatures are largely sculpted, and there are some modest stretch-goals available which will not slow down the delivery – which is expected this October.
All miniatures are provided unpainted and unbased; they have small integral bases sculpted onto them. Painted models pictured are for display purposes only – most of them are mounted on 25mm round metal washers.
