Saturday, the 12th July, saw six brave competitors lined up for the monumental challenge that was the Pompey Triathlon. Seven hours of wargaming across three fields - land, sea and air warfare.
A real endurance event, not for the faint-hearted, that consisted of DBA, Victory at Sea, and Wings of War sessions.
The competitors were:
Andrew Fisher (reigning English Open DBA champ)
David Hewkin (Steve Dean forum rep)
Simon Bargery (Bolt Action)
Paul Hicks (Bolt Action, etc.)
Evan Brice (Kriss Akabusi style)
Darren Linnington (master painter)
Everyone played everyone in five games of DBA - all completed in less than three hours! Dr. Andrew Fisher led at this point with a full house of five wins.
Next up was a two-hour VaS session (I think we started a little too far apart!), where David drew level with Andrew by sinking one KM ship.
Then as the rain started, we adjourned to the conservatory to play a Wings of War game, with twelve planes on the table - two each. David managed to down four allied planes, thus securing his overall victory with 100 points.
We all had a super day, the rain holding off till 6PM. We had plenty of beer, tea, cakes and a BBQ.
