Ancient History Magazine 6 Coming Soon!

AHM 6 – Rome of the Twelve Tables

The new Ancient History Magazine has just been sent off to the printer! In issue six, we examine Rome of the Twelve Tables.

During the 5th century BC, Rome was suffering from a number of crises, both internal and external. High among these was a conflict among the social classes. To try and deal with these civil issues, a fundamental code of laws was developed (the Twelve Tables). While these didn't exactly solve the problems they were designed to help, they did prove an extremely important source for the legal system that followed.

Issue 6 examines this period in Roman history from a variety of angles. There are articles on religious practice, funerary traditions and the difficulty of archaeology for this period, to name a few. The issue also provide a look at the tragic figure of Coriolanus, perhaps otherwise best known from Shakespeare, and features an as yet unseen reconstruction of the forum of Rome in this period of history.

Outside the theme, articles include a reevaluation of Augustus, fossil discoveries in ancient Greece, and a look at female gladiators. You can find a complete summary on our website. Issue 6 is available for pre-order (with a discount) via our webshop, or you can subscribe and never miss a single issue! AHM issue 6 is due out in mid-September
