Yeah, I used to carry my pile of D&D books around school with me and when things got slow in class, would whip out the DMG, or Monster Manual and peruse it. It was great, teachers thought I was studying some reference book for class. I did the same thing. 'course, I also slept in class, or worked on my computer programming, or did the homework for my next class drove my teachers nuts. My freshman English teacher didn't know what to do. She'd ask me a question to "make sure I was paying attention," but I'd just glance at the book, give her the correct answer, and go back to my more challenging activities. So more praise to Gygax for giving bored brainiacs something to do in public education classrooms. |
