Aussiejed of Eureka Miniatures writes:

Eureka's latest 28mm additions to our Modern Wars range are a 12.7mm Dshk machinegun and a M1937 82mm mortar, with choice of Afghan guerrilla or NBC-suited Soviet crew. With a reputation for rugged reliability and easy maintenance in the field, these Soviet State Arsenals designs have flooded Afghanistan since the beginning of the Soviet-Afghan War, right up until the present day. They can also feature in any Third World Cold War flashpoint or superpower confrontation you care to imagine.

28mm Soviet Dshk and mortar

Whether warding off Russian Hind gunships, menacing Coalition Chinooks and Blackhawks, or shooting at your neighbors in the next valley, the 12.7mm Dshk (or 'Dushka') machinegun is one of the most commonly encountered heavy weapons in Afghanistan. It is the Soviet equivalent to the U.S..50 cal heavy machinegun and a formidable weapon.

The M1937 82mm mortar was the standard Soviet infantry mortar of World War Two, which remained in service with Soviet armed forces and their allies, largely unaltered, right up until the 1980s. Examples of this mortar, either captured from the Russians or supplied by foreign backers, are often recorded in photographs of this period from Afghanistan, and they could still be found in the arsenals of the rival Afghan factions long after the Soviet withdrawal.

Both weapons come supplied with a two-person 28mm crew, or can be ordered separately to supplement your existing collections. (They are fully compatible with any other make of modern 28mm miniatures.) The Dushka looks especially fine mounted in the back of a 4x4 truck! Customers might also wish to consider our New Release Special Offers, which allow you to buy both weapons with either Soviet NBC-suited crew and Afghan crew at a discounted price. As an added bonus, we could not resist including in the Afghan deal the previously released Type 63 rocket launcher, with its accessories and crew figures.
