As usual, we celebrate the arrival of the New Year with an AB Figures release! Tony Barton continues to steadily add new figures and revised sculpts to this already definitive range of 15/18mm Napoleonic figures for the gamer and collector. This time around, we can offer you Hungarian infantry in helmets, another French cavalry casualty set, some redesigned Spanish cavalry, and a dashing Prussian ADC in Hussar uniform.

Hungarian infantry wearing the 1798 to c.1806 helmet

We are pleased to finally resolve one of the more glaring absentees in the AB Figures Napoleonic range in the form of Hungarian infantry wearing the 1798 to c.1806 helmet. Collectors recreating an Austro-Hungarian army for the momentous campaign of 1805 and the Battles of Ulm and Austerlitz will be very pleased to see these, as they can now field correctly-helmeted Hungarian battalions alongside their helmeted Austrian units. (Helmeted Austrian figures are already available.) Until now, the range has only contained Hungarian infantry wearing the later shako which was issued in a rather piecemeal fashion - initially to Hungarian regiments - from around 1806 onwards. The new Hungarians in helmet include multiple variant rank-and-file, as well as an officer, drummer, and standard bearer. Now is your chance to be General Mack and take the war to Bonaparte… or perhaps not!

The French Chasseur casualty set contains ten figures (four horses and five riders) in a variety of distressed and terminal states. Never let it be forgotten that war is hell! These Chasseurs are wearing the later short-tailed kinski jacket of the post-1806 period. Casualty figures are especially suited to rulesets like Lasalle, which require 'casualty bases' as game markers. This set joins the existing French cavalry casualty sets for the Cuirassiers and the Dragoons (which are located in the "French 1798-1806" section of the AB catalogue on our website).

The Spanish cavalry are all new figures and replace the old Spanish cavalry of the same product codes. The new figures incorporate all the latest research on Spanish heavy cavalry uniforms during the Peninsula War and are more accurate than the old figures. Troopers, an officer, trumpeter, and standard bearer are all included.

The Prussian ADC figure is a useful addition for generals with 1812-1815 Prussian armies who use gaming rules that require the bearers of orders to be represented on the tabletop. Alternatively, he will just look good as one of those extra figures people like to embellish their 'command' bases with, or you could assign him a command of his own, such as a Light Cavalry Brigade - seeing as he is resplendent in his Hussar uniform.
