Bravo, may I comment on the very important point you made regarding the PC only download. The files are Secure-eBooks, which is a software system 1815 Limited uses under license. The programmers at Secure-eBook are trying to provide a Mac solution, and I have every reason to believe that this will be available from the middle of 2010. If you have a Mac and want to run 'mirror Windows' (open PC files), additional software programs are available at a modest cost, such as Parallel. The downloadable files can only be opened on one URL and this will remain. The archive currently contains the equivalent to five books worth of material, and is being updated each month (members receive a newsletter with a download link). An important point to make is that the material in the books is in the archive, but the archive contains additional material, and this will become more diverse, as illustrations (both contemporary and modern by Gerry Embleton), information on uniforms, weapons and equipment, complete sections from Order Books (those from the Nassau and Brunswick contingents are fascinating), court martials, maps, etc., etc., will be added. Plus, the whole of the returns for the French 1st, 2nd and 3rd army corps (dated 10th June 1815) will be available shortly. We believe that the archive will become a tremendous source of primary material on Waterloo and is excellent value when purchased with the Netherlands book. John Franklin. P.S. For those of you who do not know, the second volume on the Neherlands and Hanoverians will be published next year, and is based upon material from contemporary printed sources. The content of these books will not form part of the archive, as they do not come from archival sources.

A Waterloo study for military modellers and wargamers

The publication of the first book in an exciting new series on the Waterloo campaign provides military modelers and wargamers with a wealth of new material upon which to reproduce the rival armies and to recreate the scenarios in which they were engaged. Furthermore, a new online archive provides instant access to an array of additional information.

Providing members with outstanding value

Hanover Correspondence

The exciting new series of books incorporates previously unpublished material on the Allied army, and will cover the French and Prussians. During 2010, books will be released on the Hanoverian, Netherlands and British troops, with each providing significant new information on the campaign. The fighting at Hougoumont, the defeat of the Garde Impériale, and the defence of La Haie Sainte are just some of the topics covered, and the series will also cover the uniforms, weapons and equipment of the various participants.

New material on the Netherlands troops

Waterloo: Netherlands Correspondence

The first of two volumes on the Netherlands contingent will be available from the 18th March 2010, and contains a collection of letters and reports from officers and men who served with the army commended by the Duke of Wellington. These provide an insight into the role of the Dutch and Belgian troops and cover the fighting at Les Quatre Bras and the battle of Waterloo. In addition, there are returns with battalion strengths and lists of the killed and wounded, and the whole is enhanced by full colour illustrations.
