18mm Seven Years War Prussians
The Prussian military machine comes to Eureka Miniatures as we proudly announce our new 18mm Seven Years War range. Designed and sculpted by Mike 'Old Fritz' Broadbent, the initial releases in this range will be based on the armies that fought at Kölin in 1757, and will soon include the Austrians.
This is a major new project for Eureka Miniatures - what should be a comprehensive range of multiple variant, 18mm scale figures in an AB-style, allowing you to re-fight the classic battles of the Seven Years War "in the grand manner."
For the first releases, we took our inspiration from the Prussian and Austrian armies that fought at Kölin in 1757 (Frederick's first defeat). The Prussian range contains all the principal troop types that you will require for this campaign, including musketeers, fusiliers, grenadiers, dragoons, cuirassiers, and hussars. The hussars are available in both Busby (Hussar Regiments 1 to 4) and Mirliton (Hussar Regiments 5-10), and there's also artillery, command and personalities to complete the picture. Work on the Austrians is already well advanced.
We intend to extend the range to include all the main protagonists in the Seven Years War, including the conflicts in Europe, India and America. Gamers do not have to limit themselves to purely historical situations. Those of you who still have access to a copy of the great Charles Grant's book The War Game (1971) might suddenly feel nostalgic for the 'Golden Age' of wargaming – when the Vereinigte Freie Städte, the Grand Duchy of Lorraine, and the Electorate of Teutoberg-Althaufen fought out their mighty battles in a steely determined, yet civilised manner befitting the period.
