clambo – a good point, but then "announcing" things on TMP (as I have indeed done in the past) is not like (how can I put this delicately…) "real" advertising, is it?

It doesn't cost anything to do unlike print magazine advertisements (and as someone who's done a fair few of those in the past for Salute, I know what they cost and it's lots and lots). TMP is – after all – a forum, not an advertising medium per se (though it does, of course, have side bar type advertising as well) and – by my estimation – an 'announcement' is just what it says it is.

There's an old saying that if you don't pay for something… that's usually what it's worth. While I don't think that this rule applies here, what it does suggest is that – as the 'announcement' is more like a free opportunity to discuss things: like a conversation in the pub – it will stray off subject (I remember the announcements I used to do about Salute via TMP and hopw they ALWAYS stayed on 'message'!!!), but yes clambo: you do have a point: it is frustrating and I can see both sides of the argument.

PS Oddball. I know what you mean: late at night I pulled out of the car park of the Sugarpine Railway in Yosemite a few months ago. I'd traveled half a mile in the dark before I almost hit a guy coming the other way on 'my' side of the road (by which I mean myself, my wife and a half a ton of Honda Goldwing were actually on HIS side of the road!). I don't know who was more scared but it was probably me (or my passenger)… "Backwards" indeed! If only you foreigners drove on the proper side of the road ;-)

Still: if it means that the odd Taliban – so used to shooting at Ruskies and Yanks over the years – gets into what he fondly imagines is a great position to shoot the driver on a British vehicle – as modeled by the excellent Britannia Miniatures Supacat Jackal mentioned in this announcemnt – and meets the machine gunner instead, then all to the good, eh?

Britannia Miniatures is soon to release another addition to its Modern British range.

Britannia Jackal, painted by Piers Brand

The latest vehicle is the Jackal MWMIK, currently seeing service in Afghanistan.

The model comes as a one-piece resin casting, with metal wheels and crew. It comes with a choice of rear gunner, allowing you to build the model with either the.50 heavy machinegun or the H&K 40mm grenade launcher.

Britannia Mastiff, Jackal and Land Rover WMIK

A lovely model, and a great addition to the Britannia range of present-day British vehicles.
