Agema has released the long-awaited Wars of the Roses, a play-by-mail and play-by-email wargame covering the British Isles in the XV century. Nineteen years of game design experience has gone into the product, which is described by the designer Richard D. Watts as being the most complete PBM wargames campaign Agema's ever released.
Players can take the role of English or Scottish lords of the realm or as wild Irish chieftains situated 'beyond the Pale' in which English rule is recognised in Ireland. The game begins with Prince Edward of Westminster being born in doing so upsetting the Duke of York's plans to become the next monarch, while King Henry of England losing his wits and the defeat of English-Gascon arms by the French at the battle of Castillon has just occurred. Meanwhile King James of Scotland is having troubles of his own with the House of Douglas and the Lord of the Isles at loggerheads with him. The scene is set for fame, power and fortune to be established in this most compelling of periods!
