Action at Tug Argan Pass
August 11th, 1940

Tug Argan Pass was one of the last battles of the successful Italian campaign to wrest control of British Somaliland. General De Simone advanced his Center Column of General Nasi's invasion force toward the last reported position of the enemy. The British had withdrawn their meager force toward the foothills west of Berbera in an attempt to forestall the Italian invasion and allow a proper evacuation. After being reinforced with the 2nd battalion of the Black Watch and the 2nd Punjab Battalion, British Major-General Goodwin-Austin took personal command of the force.

After some bombing runs from the Italian Air Force and an initial barrage in the early morning of the 11th, General De Simone began his assault.
