We are pleased to announce a big update to our 15mm Late Roman to Early Byzantine range. clibinarium has prepared for us close-fighting infantry in spangenhelms, archers in helmets, and Equites Clibanarii - massively armoured cavalry on fully armoured horses.
New codes:
KM501 - spangenhelm infantry in chainmail
KM505 - spangenhelm and chainmail command
KM509 - unarmoured infantry in spangenhelm
KM513 - unarmoured command in spangenhelm
KM517A - archers in spangenhelms
KM517B - archers in ridged helmets
KM528 - Clibanarii very heavily armoured cavalry on fully armoured horses
Note that the Clibanarii can be used as Sassanid elite heavy cavalry as well - care was taken to make these look as Persian as possible, including archery equipment, for this purpose, and indeed the Romans raised these troops in imitation of the Persian clibanarii. They can also be used as cataphracts in eastern client kingdoms, which is presumably where the Equites Clibanarii were first recruited (much as our Equites Sagitarii horse archers may be used as Palmyran or other eastern client horse archers).
We'll be making a full range of Sassanids to go with these Clibanarii as well, including the Shah on his golden throne!
A massive infusion of new blood will be coming to this range in spring, once all the Early Byzantine and barbarian foederati sculpts that are done have made their way through the casters! Take a look at the bottom of the range to see all the codes that are done! I particularly love the Huns (fierce!), whereas clibinarium favors the Germans.
