"Huge" Announcement from Ex illis

@Lupulus: It's a miniature wargame technologicaly enhanced by a software. The software stands as a interactive rulebook, and action resolver. You plan your strategy on the board with your minis and you input your actions in the device.

All the rules and mechanics are also available on the Wiki: ex-illis.com/wikien

It's really fun to play, and it's really streamlined, I mean the game really flows and it take about an hours to play a game. Not to mention no more arguing over an obscure rule with your buddies.

If you are a fluff buff I think their background story is pretty cool, that's what sold me actually. It's taking place in Europe in the 13th century, it's a sweet mix of historical background with a fantasy twist.

The free trial offer allows you to try the game for free. duh, sorry that's not really helping lol. The software, the updates, the leveling up, the customization tools, the army building tool are always free, but you normaly need to buy some minis and activate them on the server to be able to play. Then the server keeps track of your units when you play a game and it awards you experience points… then when you level up you unlock new abilities and customize your units thanks to the specs customization path.

So with the free trial, you can try the game absolutely for free, and get trial units that you can proxy with your minis or print the paper cut outs they provide. From what I understand, you get all the features to play with, your units will have a level up cap at level 14, and then after a month if you decide to buy the game you will keep all the stats you earned for your trial units that will be converted to permanent units.

If you have other questions I'll be happy to answer, as you can guess I'm a big fanboy.

@The Black Wash: Yes you have to input your decisions in the software, but it's really simple, you have in game help to explain each action available, and if you like crunching numbers ALL the meta-gaming is available during the game.

Honestly I barely look at the screen anymore, because I know what actions are available with each unit, so it only takes me a couple of seconds to input my choices. I plan all my strategy looking at the board, looking at my opponent's minis and mine, checking what terrain is where and how to get the best outcomes.

It helps me to focus much more on my strategy than with other games, since I don't have to do all the math on paper anymore. I suck at math and I always hated checking complex tables, getting my calculator out. I also never bothered to learn all the rule books by heart, so either I forgot a rule and got my arse kicked because the other guy had the knowledge superiority, or I spent long minutes checking the rules in the book which annoyed a lot of gamers. :s

Hi!

OK, here it comes... you have waited for it... the huge announcement from Ex illis!

This is the news, we want you to shout it out loud, at the top of your lungs, anywhere, anytime you can!

Write it on your website, on your friends' websites, on your friends' friends' websites, on your blog, on Twitter, on Facebook, on forums, on MSN, on Skype, on Yahoo! messenger, on Google Wave, in emails, on your Christmas card, in newspapers, in magazines, on fax messages, on your credit card receipts, on your Bat-Signal, on buses, on billboards, on your bumper sticker, on your screensaver, in your SMS, on your name tag, on your dog/cat collar, on birthday cards, on your shopping list, on your business card, on your coffee mug, in your contracts, in your memos, in your poems, in your haikus...

Say it on podcasts, on radio, on TV, on your answering machine, on the phone, at your shareholder's keynote, at drinking toasts, at the gym, in your poker games (this is no bluff), in your football team huddles, at your business meetings, in your DJ sets, in your cheerleading routine, at weddings, at your band's rehearsals, at your AG (Anonymous Gamers) meetings, at your book club, at your graduation...

Well, you get the gist, we want every living gamer's soul to hear about it!

So here it is, less teasing, more gaming:

You can now try Ex illis for free!
